Greece – Mar 24

George Papaconstantinou, the former Finance Minister of Greece, has been found guilty of removing the names of some of his relatives from a list of potential Greek tax evaders who held HSBC bank accounts.  The “Lagarde list,” which was given to Greece in 2010 by then-French finance minister Christine Lagarde, caused outrage in Greece initially; the government has since been accused of not fully investigating the list.  Papaconstantinou’s charge will be a misdemeanor with a one year suspended prison sentence.
