Days after violent protests erupted calling for elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, elections officials have announced that elections will be held in November 2016. President Joseph Kabila is constitutionally barred from running for reelection, and the nation has been plagued by fears that Kabila would delay future polls in efforts to hold onto power in the country.
