Sudan - Feb 11

A Human Rights Watch report published this week contains evidence of mass rape (over 200 women and children ) in the Tabit area of Sudan. A spokesman for the Sudanese military staunchly denied the claims. The first allegations of this kind were levied in early November and were similarly denied. As a result the Human Rights Watch office of the UN-Africa Union peacekeeping force in Darfur was closed after UN-Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon wished to look into the matters in depth.
