Spain - Apr 17

The former head of the IMF, Rodrigo Rato, was accused of fraud and arrested in Spain on Thursday. He was then subsequently released on Friday after his office and home were searched. Along with other former IMF managers, Rato was accused of misusing company credit cards for personal expenses.  Rato's arrest is just the latest in a series of investigations into top Spanish bankers and politicians currently viewed as at odds with a discontented middle class.
