South Sudan - Nov 4

The World Food Program (WFP) reports that famine has been marginally and temporarily avoided in South Sudan due to aid and small harvests. However, the WFP warns that should there be a continuation or escalation of violence in South Sudan the efforts to help those in need would be impeded. This report came shortly after President Kiir agreed to some demands of opposition movements, including the relinquishing of his right to choose his prime minister. If such efforts by Kiir are successful in stopping the violence in South Sudan, then the widespread hunger should hopefully begin to ameliorate. Source: Reuters
