Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia - Oct 17

A Chinese pharmaceutical company, Sihuan Pharmaceutical Holdings Group Ltd, has sent an experimental Ebola drug to Africa in hopes of combatting the spread of the disease. The drug itself is currently only approved for emergency military use in China, however, the Chinese government believes that it will soon begin clinical trials in Africa and that it can be used by Chinese aid workers in the region if they become infected. China has already sent hundreds of aid workers and more than $35 million in medical aid to the countries most affected by Ebola, and if this new drug is successful, it could both begin to slow the spread of Ebola as well as increase China’s power in the area.
