Pakistan - June 17th, 2014

8 protesters died during skirmishes with police on June 17th in Lahore, after the police attempted to remove a barrier surrounding the house of prominent politician Doctor Tahir-ul-Qadri. Doctor Qadri, who heads the left leaning Pakistan People's Movement (PAT), is a controversial figure in Pakistani politics. The arrest of 55 of Qadri's supporters, which included women and teenagers, who tried to protect the barricade highlights Pakistan's ignored internal political drama. http://www.dawn.com/news/1113304/youth-women-among-seven-killed-in-pat-supporters-clash-with-police
