In an attack from the mountains in Sar-e-Pol province, Taliban insurgents killed at least 22 security force members. This violence precedes the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year, with Afghan security forces gradually replacing Nato-led forces in the fight against militants.The attack sparked a several-hour-long gun battle.  Source: BBC
